Dr Marina Kamel completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery with Distinction from the University of Otago, New Zealand in 2012. She obtained fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS) in general dental practice and was awarded the prestigious FG Christensen medal for obtaining the highest ranking in the primary examinations across Australasia.
Dr Kamel completed her Doctor of Clinical Dentistry and specialist training in periodontics and implant dentistry at the University of Sydney in 2019. She was awarded an RACDS membership in the Periodontics specialty. She has received multiple academic and research awards during her professional career including the reputable Judith and Dr. Mario Adamo Implant Innovation Scholarship for her research work. She is an active member of the International Team for Implantology (ITI), Australian & New Zealand Academy of Periodontists (ANZAP), and the Australian Society of Periodontics (ASP). She is the current Vice President of the Australasian Osseointegration Society in Queensland.
Outside of periodontics, Marina enjoys running, swimming and tennis. She loves travelling and spending time with her family and friends in the great outdoors.

A/Prof Howes is a dental surgeon and prosthodontist.
His interests lie in the field of functional head and neck rehabilitation, advanced digital technologies in craniofacial reconstruction, dental implant protocols and development. A/Prof Howes’s research has resulted in innovative implant products on the international market which have revolutionised some head and neck reconstructive as well as standard implant rehabilitative protocols.
With his translational research he has developed innovative implant fixtures, components and protocols to solve hard and soft tissue constraints in patients compromised by head and neck trauma and cancer.
He has lectured extensively worldwide and supervised Masters and PhD projects, been an external examiner nationally and internationally as well as publishing research and book chapters in fields including head and neck cancer rehabilitation, implant dentistry, occlusion and biomechanics.
Steph Eber
Speech Pathologist
Stephanie studied Speech Pathology at The University of Sydney, graduating in 2005. She has worked in Sydney, Australia and Hong Kong since 2006 at hospitals, schools, private practices and disability organisations both as a Speech Pathologist and Manager to ensure that children and adults attending these centres gained the skills to communicate successfully.
She has lectured at The University of Hong Kong and the Chinese University of Hong Kong on alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) and has a strong passion for working with children and adolescents.
Stephanie has undergone training in Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy and utilises these techniques to help people improve the strength and coordination of their oral muscles, eliminate problematic habits and patterns (eg. thumb sucking, tongue thrust), and develop optimal oral behaviour for speech and swallowing. She has presented to parents and professionals across Hong Kong, educating them about how people should eat, breathe, swallow and speak to ensure best health and wellbeing.

Sarah Beach graduated Dental Therapy in 1993. She went on to gain degrees in Communications and Media Management, Oral Health Therapy and Public Health. Sarah is a Coulson Institute trained Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist and has been incorporating FNFT techniques into her clinical dentistry examinations, as well as her OMT program to provide incredibly fast pain relief.

Celso Da Costa completed his Dental Hygienist diploma at age 20 years from FMDUL, Lisbon, Portugal.
After one year of private practice in Lisbon and after working as an assistant professor at FMDUL in 2010, he then started working in Switzerland in 2011.
He was the Prophylaxis Manager of the Dental Group, Adent Dental Clinics in Switzerland since 2017 and started a career in dental management obtaining his diploma in Management and Human Resources. He now works as the Head of the Swiss Dental Academy at EMS Dental in Nyon, Switzerland.
He was cited by the Portuguese and Swiss press for prevention and maintenance treatments and dental economics.

Dr Hera Dimitriadis received her Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Sydney. Hera’s career has included clinical practice, owning two dental practices, management in the dental insurance industry, public health, acting as a Clinical Director and a Director of Oral Health Services in two states in Australia, dental practice accreditation, and dental and public health education. She has worked extensively with children and medically compromised patients in three hospitals in her home state of New South Wales (NSW), as well as Service Manager in NSW and the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) for adolescents and young adults with cancer. She is currently the Dental Professional Relations Manager in Australia and New Zealand for Philips Oral Health Care.

Dr Simon Parsons is a dentolegal consultant for Dental Protection and a practising dentist with over 25 years’ experience working in private dental practice. Dr Parsons tutored dental undergraduates and dental assistants and continues to enjoy teaching and mentoring oral health professionals. He has balanced his interest in clinical treatment and practice management in various roles, having run large multidisciplinary dental practices for over a decade.
With broad experience in risk management issues, Dr Parsons has conducted clinical governance activities for several major health funds. He spent three years serving as Clinical Director at Australian Health Management and then as Acting National Dental Director for Medibank Private. As part of the Dental Protection team, he is keen to share his risk management knowledge and experience with fellow dental practitioners. He completed an MBA in 2001.
